Big Yam Potatoes Gathering - Mississippi Fiddlers

The Mississippi Fiddlers Association, an organization for those interested in fiddle music, will be hosting the First Annual Big Yam Potatoes Gathering on May 16-18, 2008 on the historic campus of Jefferson College in Washington, MS, just north of Natchez. The gathering will feature a fiddle contest (with cash prizes) on Saturday May 17, 2008 and a dance that evening called by Rhonda Webb, featuring the music of Sound Wagon. We will have a small ground stage for groups that wish to perform at the gathering. If you or your band would like to share your music at the event, please be in touch. We will also be leaving several time slots open on the stage for pick-up groups. The only scheduled activities are for Saturday, May 17th, but we would like to encourage folks to stay the whole weekend. There will be tons of jamming on the green with Wild Fiddlin' Jack Magee and Friends, the Mississippi Old Time Music Society, and you, if you so desire. So bring your fiddles, banjos, guitars, mandolins, basses, jawbones, larynxes, or whatever other sound making device you prefer and come have some fun! Primitive camping will be available (and is encouraged!) Friday and Saturday nights. There will be NO ADMISSION FEE to attend this event!

2008 Hill Country Acoustic Music Camp The 2008 Hill Country Acoustic Music Camp featuring Dale Morris and Dick Walker as the fiddle instructors will be held in Kerrville, Texas June 25th to 29th, 2008. Fiddle, Guitar, Dobro, Mandolin, Voice, Harmonica, Bass, Mt. Dulcimer, and Hammer Dulcimer, Banjo and Bass are taught with classes for all skill levels.
